1. How did you get associated with Haldiram Society? Why did you start this work? 

My association with Haldiram’s dates back to April 2013, when the construction of Gyanshree School was to start. The school started in April 2014 with about 150 students and by the time Covid struck in 2020 the school, the school was almost full. Both classes ten and twelve results were out. The school had created a niche for itself in the national forums/rankings.It was during Covid time that it was decided that empowering youth was something the HSA should focus on as part of CSR program of Haldirams.

2. What obstacles did you face and how has your journey been in CSR work?
There were challenges like mobilizing youth. Children coming from economically weaker sections don’t want to let go the opportunity of earning little money that they get by doing menial work to spend atleast three months in doing the training. Secondly studying and doing the training, together is something they don’t prefer. It was challenging to convince them to do so initially, but now they see merit in doing both. Apart from HSA, our CSR work in education in Bikaner and other places wasn’t much of a problem. Even our afforestation project in Jewar went off smoothly.

3. What is your vision and personal goal for Haldiram Society and New Delhi?

My personal vision is in tandem with the larger goal of Haldiram Educational Society- we stand committed to empowering youth. Not merely training them, but enhancing their employability skill and getting them jobs in structured industry is a part of the Society’s commitment. We also continue to focus on helping youth to go for higher education through open institutions. Another area of focus is to empower them as young entrepreneurs who can fulfil their dream of running their own business. Personally, I stand committed to work towards this mission as long as I can physically and mentally manage this.

How did you get associated with Haldiram Educational Society? Have you always been interested in social causes? 

I have been connected to traditional values since childhood, because of which faith in God, compassion for all living beings, and a sense of responsibility to nurture the environment became natural qualities of mine and a part of my life. I met Mr. Manoharlal Agrawal, Director of Haldiram Group, at a social event. During our conversation, I told him all this about myself. He was impressed and entrusted me with the responsibility of overseeing some work they were doing in the fields of healthcare and education in Bikaner, as their representative.

What has been your experience in handling the CSR activities for Haldiram Educational Society? Did you face any challenges?

I have always had full confidence in carrying out work related to my social responsibilities. When Haldiram Society entrusted me with the responsibility as a representative, this challenge gave me a new surge of energy, and I included it among the priorities of my life. Alongside my business activities, I have fulfilled my social responsibilities well. Even before CSR, I was connected to social causes. When I learned that social activities could be further strengthened through the company's CSR, I took on this work with new enthusiasm and passion.

To remain non-judgmental and fair, a bridge between the society and government bodies, is a constant challenge. I have always enjoyed this challenge and continue to work with zeal, to ensure that I do not cut any corners and can continue to communicate to both parties to be best of my ability. 

Do you have a personal goal and vision for Bikaner and Haldiram Educational Society?

The Haldiram Group of Companiesare now well known worldwide for their business activities and for bringing the taste of Bikaner to every corner of the globe. Alongwith this, Haldiram’s CSR wing has deeply connected itself with supporting education, healthcare, and other social concerns. The goal of my life is to successfully spread the core philosophy of the society to every individual until my last breath. If I can contribute in even a small way to society and nation-building through their social concerns, it will be a matter of pride for me. By making me their representative, they have given an ordinary person like me the opportunity to serve the community.I will remain forever grateful to Haldiram’s for this. 

The responsibility that the Haldiram Educational Society has given me is so that through this responsibility, I can do something in the field of education and health in my city Bikaner that an ordinary person gets better medical facilities and the poorest children get good education, and I can carry out my responsibilities and duties in the social work being done by the committee honestly. This is my ultimate goal.
