Ekal Abhiyaan- The Power of One
The Haldiram Educational Society financially supports the Ekal Abhiyaan that spearheads transformation of rural and tribal villages by focusing on education first.
In Sanskrit, the word Ekal denotes a single entity or the significant role of one person. The Ekal Abhiyaan has spearheaded transformation of rural and tribal villages by focusing on education as the first stepping stone. It is a special programme that runs in Himachal Pradesh, to support free education for children along with providing employment opportunities to villagers.
Haldiram’s Educational Foundation in aegis with Bharat Lok Shiksha Parishad adopted villages across Himachal Pradesh (Hamirpur and Kangra district). Under this programme, more than 6940 students (out of these 80percent are girls) are receiving primary education. The programme has been successfully running since 2020 and has given employment to 333 teachers. Each teacher is responsible for a cluster of children creating an ideal teacher-student ratio.
